Karel is our new Editor for the ‘Tasty Drinking’ section from now on.
Karel Röell caught the wine bug working at a wine estate in Northern California 25 years ago, and built up a vast wine collection since. After 20 years working in the financial sector – notably Bear Stearns, Lazards and Lehmans, he founded Domaines & Cie applying his financial expertise – Relative Value trading and Risk Arbitrage – on to the fine wine world. Karel has worked and lived across Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia and is fluent in 6 languages. His French was particularly handy when he got married to a Parisienne with whom he shares three daughters. Apart from wine, Karel is passionate about cycling and has completed three Etape du Tours so far and is planning a double in 2011: the Alpe d’Huez and Massif Central étapes on 11 and 17 July. His ambition is to make it to Master of Wine level, and he is currently one certification level away from achieving that through the Wine and Spirits Education trust.
Welcome Karel and looking forward to some tasty reviews from London ans beyond!
