Just 20 min. South West of Bruxelles you are in the middle of the green hilly Pajottenland region.
After a good walk in the hills surrounding the Castle of Gaasbeek we often go for a nice dinner at the nearby restaurant “Land van Gaasbeek”.
Family run, this is an easy-going restaurant serving simple classical Belgian dishes.
In the summer you can enjoy a beer or the aperitif at the wonderful terrace overlooking the country side.
According to my Flemish boyfriend the frites are among the best in the region with a real taste of potatoes. We often opt for the Chateaubriand steak which is served with a nicely portion of crispy green salad or the house special steak tartar. The house red is a wine from the Bergerac region or a red Bordeaux Ch. Lamothe Filius from Huis Vossen in Lennik.
This is very traditional cooking, but good value for money.
The menu offers the Belgian classics, a wok dish and also some dishes for children. “Land of Gaasbeek” always has some seasonal suggestions and I still remember the really tasteful game stew that they served last autumn. I hope the stew will be on the menu again this autumn.
The address is Donkerstraat 14, Lennik
